2002 to 2005 In July 2003, WinstonNet dedicated its first Community Computer Lab 6/12/03 Carl Russell Community Recreation Center. From July 2003 to Jan 2005, WinstonNet opened 40 computer labs with 350+ donated computers throughout Forsyth County. $100,000 Donated resources,networking equipment and used computers from Forsyth Tech, Wake Forest University, FTCC & WFU. 2005 In Jan 2005, WinstonNet was awarded Microsoft Unlimited Potential grant which provided the licensing for free software to be used in the community labs. $491,000 Microsoft Corporation
2005 In Nov 2005, with a Cisco cash grant, WinstonNet partnered with One Economy, national non-profit, to build a local community resource portal - The Beehive $30,000 Cisco grant
2005 WinstonNet's GigaPoP upgraded to 1GB.
2006 Forsyth County Library partnered with WinstonNet on a 3-yr. grant to develop a sustainable computer training program - Computer Training Bridge $200,000 State Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant to Forsyth County Library - WN supported grant
2007 In July 2007, WinstonNet was awarded a Business Education Technology Alliance (BETA) funding to support a state-wide effort to connect K-16 public schools to the NC Research and Education Network (NCREN) $296,000 State of North Carolina - BETA funds
